One of the best experiences you can make as a miniature painter is this beginner workshop! Long term learning!

"For me, the whole experience was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. On Sunday afternoon, exhausted from the intense days, I looked at my miniature and was almost a little disappointed that the result wasn’t significantly better than other things I’ve already painted. Then, on the way home, I thought a lot about what I had taken away from the workshop, and every few minutes something new came to mind that I had learned—but it still wasn’t a big revelation.

That only came in the last few days: I suddenly realized that I’m looking at the world around me from a new perspective. I watch a movie and notice how interesting the light falls on a face. I see a picture and think about what the colors are doing to me and why. I look into my garden and see basing materials scattered everywhere. I look at the minis sitting half-painted on my desk and immediately think, “Ah, I could still do this and this and this.”

And so I realized that the most important and impactful thing I took away from that weekend is a new way of seeing things. So thank you, Roman, for opening my eyes."

"Ich möchte mich noch einmal von ganzem Herzen für den großartigen Einsteiger- bzw. Beginner Workshop am Wochenende bedanken. 

Für mich war das ganze ein bisschen eine Achterbahnfahrt der Gefühle. Am Sonntag Nachmittag habe ich, erschöpft von den intensiven Tagen, meine Miniatur angeschaut und war fast etwas enttäuscht, dass das Ergebnis jetzt nicht wesentlich besser war als andere Dinge, die ich schon gemalt habe. Dann habe ich beim Heimfahren viel darüber nachgedacht, was ich aus dem Workshop mitgenommen habe, und alle paar Minuten ist mir etwas Neues eingefallen, was ich gelernt habe, aber die große Erleuchtung war das auch noch nicht. Die ist dann in den letzten Tagen gekommen: 

Mir ist plötzlich aufgefallen, dass ich die Welt um mich herum aus einer neuen Perspektive betrachte. Ich schaue einen Film und mir fällt auf, wie interessant das Licht auf ein Gesicht fällt. Ich sehe ein Bild und denke darüber nach, was die Farben mit mir machen und warum. Ich schaue in meinen Garten und sehe Basingmaterial überall herumliegen. Ich schaue die Minis an, die halb bemalt auf meinem Schreibtisch herumstehen und denke mir sofort: "Ah, da könnte ich noch das und das und das machen".

Und so ist mir klar geworden, dass das Wichtigste und Wirkungsvollste, was ich von diesem Wochenende mitgenommen habe, eine neue Sicht auf die Dinge ist. Also vielen Dank Roman, dass du mir die Augen geöffnet hast."
